Long Lane Farm Flowers (Linden PA) is looking to hire a seasonal employee for part time/per diem field work from April through October 2021. This person will be working along side Emily and also alone at times. Hours and days are highly flexible (I can work with your schedule too) and will change with the seasons. I would like to have one set day per week with room for additional days/hours. For example, in the spring we may need one 3 hour day per week and in peak growing season perhaps three 4+ hour days per week.
The right person is first and foremost honest and reliable, is a self-motivated hard worker, must have your own transportation, also enjoys the outdoors and working with nature, digging in the dirt, not afraid of bugs or worms etc., able to walk hills and uneven terrain, can lift up to 50 lbs., kneel on the ground repeatedly, learn new tasks easily and follow directions well, shows attention to detail, and able to work in the sun or the rain.
Tasks will include but are not limited to: preparing and flipping new beds, planting seeds and transplants, weeding (lots of weeding), assisting with drip irrigation, harvesting flowers and foliage, washing buckets, watering, laying and repairing landscape fabric, sorting/banding/preparing flowers for sale, cleaning up in and around the flower field, fertilizing and pest management practices (we are not certified organic but use primarily organic practices), potentially driving the tractor or side-by-side, stocking the flower stand, using tools (hoes, shovels, rakes, etc.), covering/uncovering low tunnels as needed, assisting at events we may have on or off the farm, .
We also have three big rambunctious dogs who frolic around the farm freely much of the time so must love dogs!
Compensation will start at $12/hr and may increase with demonstration of efficiency and dependability.
No experience necessary if you’re willing to learn.
